Berlin Street Art

One amazing aspect of Berlin we found on our most recent visit was the Street Art.  We had noticed that there was a lot of unusual stuff painted on the walls during earlier visits but we hadn’t taken a moment to look and think about it and view it as art rather than just Graffiti.  Sure there is some of that too, but check out all the interesting stuff we found through the self guided “Public Art” walking tour we found on the new “Trip Advisor City Guides” App for iPhone.

Astronaut-Space Crusader

This painting by Victor Ash was part of the street art festival Backjumps in 2007
Man with the Fan

This small piece was pointed out next on the tour to remind us to keep your eyes open while you walk around

“Wall”

“Wall” by Blu appeared in the last week of July 2010.  We thought this one was especially interesting, the Berlin wall falls and the euro rises.  Or the other way around these days (viewing right to left)…

“Rounded Heads”

This one is by Nomad and done in the “pictogram style”

“Yellow Man”

“Yellow Man” is a painting by the Brazilian twins Otavio and Gustavo Pandolfo, known as Os Gêmeos (which is Portuguese for the twins). Their work often features yellow-skinned characters (like seen here) taken from the yellow tinge both of the twins have in their dreams.  Whaaaaattever….

“The Lads”

“The Lads” by London Police was organized by the Berlin council and Backjumps exhibition (i.e. legally done street art authorized by the city)

‘Brothers’

This one was enormous, and we couldn’t get over the size of these!

PS – more posts coming in the next couple days as we finish off our European trip!
